This is fascinating. I, for one, look forward to the remaining two thirds of your life story. If any writer has significant experiences to share, it is a writer like you who self-publishes. The advice of an editor and publisher reach only so far when a story is meant to be told.

There’s a character in “Sahara Dust” named Kit Sheldon. He was the skipper of the “Albatross” schooner on which he ran a sailing school on for teens with his doctor wife. It sank in a freak storm. His wife and several students drowned. One of the students later wrote a small accounting that was possibly self published or certainly at best by a very small publisher. Somebody in Hollywood bought the rights and cast Jeff Bridges as Kit in a big-time movie called “White Squall” — which was so far from the truth as to be totally ludicrous. So the machine will mess with the truth on either side of success, because in the end, all it really cares about is money.
