Another quiet late summer bonus day in more ways than one. Blue is still eating (very little), walking around on his own (quite a dew times a day), and he is still being loved deeply and being tenderly cared for here on Happy Hill. I’m not sure how much Blaze comprehends about what is happening. They both saw Izzy go through this process back in August 2020, including his silent overnight passing on the leather couch.
Dogs are very present and matter of fact. No worrying beyond the now, no ruminating about the past. Blue seems wary, tentative, and very deliberate, as if he’s conserving his dwindling energy, cherishing his last days, and perplexed by all the losses — appetite, energy, and fun.
I think he may last another week or two.
But you never know.
