Andre J de Saint Phalle
“The bottle was dusty, but the liquor was clean.” Memoirist—thumb out at 21 to Caribbean swells to VT snow—50+ years distilled. Burns at first. Finishes smooth.

Current happenings

Necropolis
The weight of blood and fractured legacies, carved in marble, etched in memory. Necropolis—an extensive and elaborate burial site designed as a “city of the dead.”

Noodles
I have been noodling and multitrack recording in my home studio for over 25 years. I had a bandcamp page for most of that time. A friend bought a CD once for $9.99. A few years later another friend downloaded a track. No matter. I just do this for fun.

Surfing The Interstates
“Raw, unflinching 1973 hitchhiking memoir blending family trauma, Vietnam-era tension, Grateful Dead mysticism, and vivid road encounters. Strong voice, evocative prose, no filler—reads like Kerouac raised on acid and Allman Brothers.”

Sahara Dust
“Sahara Dust” was originally planned as the second book of my memoir trilogy, “The Spaces Between.” Meant to follow book one, “Surfing The Interstates” it has been re-imagined as a substack section featuring individual portraits, stories and vignettes from my years running a windsurfing operation in Antigua, West Indies with my partner, Thea Ramsey. (Time period covered 1983-87)

Green Mountain Flash
“Green Mountain Flash” was originally planned as the third book of my memoir trilogy, “The Spaces Between.” Meant to follow book two, “Sahara Dust” it has been re-imagined as a substack section featuring individual portraits, stories and vignettes from my nearly three decades living in Lamoille County, Vermont with my wife, Veronica. (Time period covered 1997-2026)

Momentary Portraits
Portraits of moments still breathing inside me

The Spaces Between
Originally conceived as a memoir trilogy, “The Spaces Between” has been re-imagined. After publishing “Surfing the Interstates” I realized that the amount of time and energy required to write two more books was beyond my reach. Instead, I have have converted those eras of my life into substack sections which will contain individual stories, told in the same dual narrative, cinematic/reflective style.
Substack is the home for great culture
